today we made our robots to turn until they see something and they go forward and charge into the thing. then we had a battle field that they were programed to attack each other in the arena. alot of the robots got knocked out of the arena and some of them won.

Week 3 Robot movies

Here are two robots. One reacting to sound and the other to objects in front of it.

Week 3



Making decisions:
The class started with Mr Ross explaining how robots and machines take inputs, process them and produce outputs. This processing is where we make the robots make decisions.
We can use while and if statements to do these things.

First we programed our robots to stop when it hit the ball and then pick it up.
Then we put in sound sensor so when it heard a noise it would stop or do what you programed it to do.
You can make it go for different speeds and lengths.
Every week we get into different groups so every week we have to start again.

More functions on the robot

Today we got to learn how to use light and touch sensor on the robots and how to pick up balls from a frame. We also learnt how to make the robots make sound and display pictures on their screens. It was a short lesson today and what was really obvious to the teacher was that when groups worked well together they really raced ahead.

Introduction to the Robots

this is the computer programming of Team Blue.


Today we made our robots go through an obstacle course. This robot above is Team Nute's robot. the other teams were: Team Einstein, Team Blue and Team Grandma. the things we learnt were: how to programme a robot around a course
how to use light sensor
how to co-operate in a team
this is a really cool experience for year eight students and a fantastic opportunity.
